The Surf Coast Walk starts near Torquay, 100 km southwest of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Travel time via car is only 75 minutes from Melbourne to Torquay via the Geelong Ring Road.

Transport

Vline train services operate daily between Melbourne and Geelong – travel time is approximately 1 hour one way, this will vary so please check timetable.

Vline coaches operate daily from Geelong to Torquay, Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Fairhaven and further down the Great Ocean Road.

McHarrys Local Bus Service operates daily between Geelong and Torquay.

  • Route 51 -  travels between Geelong and Jan Juc via Marshall, Surf Coast Hwy and Torquay.

  • Route 50  -  Geelong to Jan Juc via Wombah Park follows a similar route. Our V/Line – Geelong to Apollo Bay via Great Ocean Road also services Torquay.

Airport transfers are available to Torquay, Anglesea, Aireys Inlet from Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Avalon Airport.

Park and walk

There are numerous locations to park and walk along the Surf Coast Walk.

Many people walk from Torquay to Anglesea or Anglesea to Aireys Inlet.

  • Torquay to Anglesea involves walks 1 to 6 or 7
  • Anglesea to Aireys walks 6 or 7 to 12

There are many car parks with direct access to the Surf Coast Walk along the route - Please check the map for the for suitable parking location marked with a P on the walks page

There are numerous public toilets along the route all with access to parking. See the FAQ section for further information or look for the toilet icons on the map.
